The nodes are calculated points based on the positions of the Earth and Moon at the time of your birth. They are karmic destiny points.

Many traditions describe the nodes as a dragon that has been cut in half. In Jyotish tradition (Hindu astrology), a demon drank the nectar of immortality and was severed before it cleared his throat, so both halves survived and kept moving. The head has a mouth with no stomach and can never be filled. The tail is a body with no mouth and cannot take anything in. Western astrology used the same image in Latin: Caput Draconis and Cauda Draconis (head of the dragon and tail of the dragon).

The South node, or tail in your natal astrology chart is about what is asking to be let go and what you arrived here already knowing. The North node, or head is how you are trying to grow and what you are trying to learn. Between them is the body of the dragon, which is the life you live.
